IYT International Bareboat Skipper Catamaran (Sail)

Bareboat Skipper – Catamaran Info

International Bareboat Skipper Catamaran (Sail) course is a 1.5 to 2 day course that is an add-on course or completed in addition to the International Bareboat Skipper (Sail) course.

The recommended minimum age to obtain this certification is 16.

Those who have obtained the International Bareboat Skipper Sail – Catamaran qualification, can automatically obtain the “International Certificate of Competency” (ICC), provided the student meets the requirements as laid down by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (Resolution 40).  You can find more information here  Please note that the ICC Certificate will not state “Catamaran”.

** For those Students that do not already hold a current Radio Operators Certificate we offer the option to obtain, at a reduced price of 6,000THB, the Compulsory VHF/SRC Radio Operators License during the 11 day course.

Certificate Recommendations

  • Command of a vessel up to a maximum length of 78 ft /24 metre
  • In coastal waters up to 20 miles offshore
  • In daylight hours and in fair conditions with moderate wind and sea conditions

This certificate is the level of competence that one needs when chartering a boat in most parts of the world including the Mediterranean or West Indies where there are restrictions in terms of cruising area and distance from the base and the vessel has to be safely moored in a marina or anchored before dark

Pattaya or Phuket?

The biggest driver for choosing one location over another will be the course schedule dates. We have offset the starting date of the course at each location in order to offer students more flexibility in starting dates.

Whether you attend our Sailing School in Phuket or Pattaya, the course curriculum, structure and qualification obtained are the same.

The primary difference between Pattaya and Phuket is that at our Sailing School in Phuket the course fee includes residence-style, shared twin room accommodation and meals, whereas in Pattaya the student is required to provide their own accommodation and meals.
